The opportunity
As “the City that Saves Itself,” Fort Wayne’s leaders have the opportunity to transform a vacant industrial campus into Electric Works, a mixed-use innovation district that will unleash the potential of a 21st-century economy.
The issue
If local officials do not agree upon a local funding plan in the coming weeks, the Electric Works project will be at risk. The local funding plan should be finalized by the end of the summer to maximize private, state, and federal investments.

Why support Electric Works?
Job growth
More than 1,500 permanent jobs are projected to be hosted on the Electric Works campus. That’s in addition to the 1,900+ construction jobs created for the two-year construction phase.
Economic growth
The completed campus is projected to spark $387 million in annual economic impact and substantially grow the tax base in Fort Wayne and Allen County.
Powering our future
At its peak, about 40% of local workers were employed on this campus. Electric Works will transform a symbol of a bygone era into a regional hub for innovation and a magnet for talent, with community amenities such as a public market.
