Director of Disability Employer Resources
Kevin joined Greater Fort Wayne Inc. in April 2018, after working for more than 13 years at Walmart as a salaried manager in six stores throughout northeast Indiana. While with Walmart, Kevin spent a good deal of his time working with the hiring and training of new hourly associates as well as the interviewing and hiring of management personnel. His work there also allowed him to learn the benefits of hiring people with disabilities. Prior to Walmart, Kevin worked for Federated Media’s WOWO radio, serving for six years as farm director and two years as news director as well as morning news anchor on Fort Wayne’s Morning News with Charly Butcher. Kevin oversees GFW Inc.’s Employing People with Disabilities Initiative, working to bring together area employers and those potential employees who have various physical and developmental disabilities.
Kevin earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business/human resource management from Western Governor’s University-Indiana. He and his wife, Kathy, have lived in Fort Wayne since 1996 when his radio career brought them and their four children to Indiana from the Quad Cities area of Illinois.
Kevin volunteers for the Allen County Public Library’s Audio Reading Service as the voice of a disabilities news program entitled “Able Living.” He has also done volunteer work for the Fort Wayne Community Center, AWS Foundation, the disABILITIES Expo, and the Mr. & Miss Whitley County 4-H Pageant. Kevin serves on the board of directors for Lutheran Social Services of Indiana (LSSI) and the LSSI Governance Committee. He is a member of the Northeast Indiana Disabilities Advocacy Council (NEIDAC), the Northeast Indiana Human Resources Association (NIHRA), and the Society for Human Resource Management, where he is a Certified Professional (SHRM-CP). Kevin is also a Certified Inclusivity Assessor for the Inclusive Recreation Resource Center at SUNY Cortland. He is still active in radio and can be heard weekends on the WBCL Radio Network.
