Greater Fort Wayne Inc. Announces 2026 Intern Experience Program Dates

Program Invites Summer Interns to Enjoy Fort Wayne

Greater Fort Wayne Inc. has announced the 2026 dates for The Intern Experience, a summer program designed to help college interns connect with Fort Wayne and Allen County while building professional relationships and exploring the community.

Each year, Allen County employers welcome hundreds of college students from across the country for meaningful internships, career development, and hands-on professional experience. The Intern Experience gives those students an opportunity to engage beyond the workplace through a series of free, exclusive summer events hosted by Greater Fort Wayne Inc.

The events are free for interns to attend and are designed to help interns connect with peers and local professionals, discover Fort Wayne and Allen County, and imagine a future career and life in the community. Events highlight local amenities, entertainment, and quality of life assets that make Allen County a great place to live, work, and grow.

“The Intern Experience is an important part of helping young professionals see themselves in Allen County long term,” said John Urbahns, President and CEO of Greater Fort Wayne Inc. “Internships often serve as a first impression of a community. By helping students build relationships, experience local attractions, and feel connected, we can strengthen the talent pipeline for employers across Allen County.”

The 2026 Intern Experience schedule includes:

Wednesday, May 27 – Electric Works Program Kick-Off, 5:00 to 7:00 PM

Tuesday, June 9 – Promenade Park, 5:00 to 7:00 PM

Wednesday, June 24 – Crazy Pinz Entertainment Center, 5:00 to 7:00 PM

Thursday, June 9, TBD, 5:00 – 7:00 PM

Tuesday, July 21 – TinCaps Game at Parkview Field, 6:00 to 9:00 PM

The Intern Experience is part of Onboard Fort Wayne, a Greater Fort Wayne Inc. program focused on supporting local businesses through talent retention and helping residents at all career stages connect, grow, and thrive in the community.

Employers hosting summer interns are encouraged to share the program with their interns and encourage them to register and attend the events. Interns can learn more and sign up at intern.gfwinc.com
