John Urbahns Named One of Indiana’s 250 Most Influential Leaders for Second Consecutive Year

Statewide recognition highlights Urbahns’ leadership and commitment to advancing Fort Wayne and Allen County

Greater Fort Wayne Inc. President and CEO John Urbahns has been named to IBJ Media’s 2026 Indiana 250, recognizing him as one of the state’s most influential business and community leaders.

This marks the second consecutive year Urbahns has earned a place on the prestigious list. He is recognized in the Civic Leadership category alongside leaders whose work is strengthening communities and helping shape Indiana’s future.

“John is an exceptional leader who has dedicated his career to making Fort Wayne and Allen County a stronger place to live, work, and build a business,” said Tony Tranquill, Board Chair of Greater Fort Wayne Inc. “He understands that lasting progress requires collaboration, trust, and a clear vision for the future. This recognition is well deserved and reflects the positive impact John continues to have throughout our community and across Indiana.”

Urbahns has served as President and CEO of Greater Fort Wayne Inc. since 2018, leading the organization’s efforts to drive economic growth, support local businesses, retain and develop talent, advocate for the business community, and strengthen Fort Wayne and Allen County’s position as a nationally recognized place for businesses and residents to thrive.

Throughout his career, Urbahns has played a central role in transformational community investments and downtown and neighborhood planning efforts. His collaborative approach has brought residents, businesses, elected officials, and community organizations together around a shared vision for Allen County’s future.

The Indiana 250 is an annual publication developed by the executives, editors, and newsroom staff of IBJ Media, which includes Indianapolis Business Journal, Inside INdiana Business, and The Indiana Lawyer. Honorees are selected following an extensive process that includes reviewing nominations, researching organizations, and consulting with community leaders from throughout the state. The 2026 list is the fifth edition of the Indiana 250.
