Aptera Plans Grand Opening for New, Expanded Headquarters

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Aptera is expanding again–this time into a new office. The homegrown tech firm will celebrate the opening of its new downtown Fort Wayne headquarters, located at 113 W. Berry St., on Friday, Sept. 21. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will kick off the day’s festivities at 10 a.m.

The expanded space paves the way for Aptera to add 20 or more new jobs. The company invested more than $2 million in renovating the building, which had been vacant since 2015.

Aptera president and co-founder T.K. Herman credited downtown Fort Wayne’s revitalization for helping the company compete for talented workers.

“It’s been amazing to see the transformation over the last nine years and I would emphatically say yes, the things that are happening downtown are absolutely not only allowing us to attract, but also retain people, for sure,” Herman said.

Aptera had nine employees when it initially moved downtown in 2008. Since then, the company has grown to employ nearly 90 workers, with plans to add more.

The celebration will last throughout the day on Sept. 21. In addition to the ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m., Aptera will serve as a stop on the Downtown Improvement District’s “Art This Way” Art Crawl, which runs from 5-9 p.m. Tours of the building will be available to art crawl ticketholders.
