FORT WAYNE, Ind. – A local company with national reach is moving into downtown Fort Wayne. Innovative Engineering Services (IES) will host a grand opening celebration for its new office, located at 118 W. Washington Blvd., on Wednesday, May 22. The festivities will start with ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11 a.m.
IES is a comprehensive structural engineering firm that serves a wide variety of clients in the construction industry. The company specializes in concrete parking structures, but has also been involved in mixed-use structures, office and educational buildings, and industrial facilities.
Founded in 2008 by Fort Wayne native Mike Bley, IES has grown its workforce to include six employees and two summer interns. Combined, staff members have more than 75 years’ experience in structural engineering and detailing, and hold engineering licenses in 34 states and the District of Columbia. Notable projects include parking garages at Yankee Stadium and Churchill Downs, garages that are part of Toledo’s riverfront development, and two mixed-use projects in New Jersey–one of which was featured in Construction Today magazine.
Locally, IES has assisted on parking garage projects at Purdue University Fort Wayne, Harrison Square, and One E. Main St.
“It’s an honor to be part of the growth and resurgence of downtown Fort Wayne,” Bley said. “I always wanted to build my own company from scratch, and I’m so thankful for the support, encouragement, and guidance of friends, family, and our great community.”
With the increased office space, IES has been able to hire a new draftsman and two summer interns. Bley intends to continue growing the company as its client base expands.
Mayor Tom Henry is expected to attend the grand opening, which is open to the public. Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11 a.m., guests can tour the office and enjoy light refreshments.
