SDI La Farga to break ground on $16M expansion

NEW HAVEN, Ind. — SDI La Farga has announced it will break ground on its $16M facility expansion located at 1640 Ryan Road in New Haven, Indiana, on February 10 at 4 pm (EST). In attendance will be representatives from SDI La Farga, its joint venture company, La Farga Group, and Steel Dynamics, as well as Indiana Secretary of Commerce Jim Schellinger.

SDI La Farga announced plans in November to expand its existing facility by adding a second furnace, which will allow the company to produce copper 24 hours a day, increasing capacity by 250 million pounds annually. Along with the expansion, SDI La Farga plans to hire additional production shift and logistical employees.

“We are extremely excited to begin this next chapter in the history of SDI La Farga,” stated SDI La Farga president Kurt Breischaft. “We continually look for new and better ways to serve our customers, and this expansion as well as our amazing team will help us do exactly that. We look forward to offering more choices of high-quality copper rod and wire to customers throughout the Midwest.”

Members of the media are invited to attend the groundbreaking ceremony.
