FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Cheri Becker, vice president of investor services and programs at Greater Fort Wayne Inc., was surprised to receive the Circle of Corydon Award at a private event in her honor on Thursday, Sept. 20. The award recognizes exemplary citizens who have made remarkable contributions to the betterment of Indiana and its people, demonstrating through life and service, qualities exemplified by the state’s greatest citizens.
State Representative Phil GiaQuinta, who nominated Becker for the award, presented the award on Gov. Eric J. Holcomb’s behalf.
“Cheri’s deep record of service to Fort Wayne and the state of Indiana made her a perfect fit for Gov. Holcomb’s Circle of Corydon Award,” GiaQuinta said. “Cheri’s early work with the Small Business Development Center, the community visioning she did through Invent Tomorrow, and development of community leaders at Leadership Fort Wayne will leave an impact on our city and state for years to come.”
“I’m simply honored and grateful for the many opportunities that I’ve had to help and support our community in the past and am looking forward to continued engagement and involvement,” Becker said. “Together, we make our community better and I’m proud to be a small part of that.”
In addition to the Circle of Corydon Award, Becker received proclamations from both Mayor Tom Henry and the Allen County Commissioners, proclaiming Thursday, Sept. 20, 2018 as Cheri Becker Day in the City of Fort Wayne and Allen County. The award and proclamations were given during a private reception among family and friends honoring Cheri’s work in and commitment for Fort Wayne, Allen County, and the state of Indiana.
