GM supplier builds new production facility

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (July 3, 2013)The American entity of Ground Effects Ltd., Ground Effects LLC(GFX), announced its plans today to take up residence in a newly constructed facility on Aboite Road near theGeneral Motors Assembly plant in Allen County. Ground Effects is partnering with RCI Development on theconstruction of a 42,000 sq. ft. building. This will allow Ground Effects to install best-in-class spray-in bed linerson newly assembled trucks for a General Motors. The company has plans to hire up to 160 people by 2017.

The innovative application techniques of spray in bed liners developed by Ground Effects for General Motorswill provide consumers with a best-in-class product that complements the new Indiana-built Sierra and Silveradoproducts, said Ground Effects Ltd. president, Jim Scott. This facility will allow General Motors to provideautomotive accessories at the factory level instead of shipping out of state or installing at the aftermarket level,which is a huge benefit to Allen County the home of both light and heavy duty truck manufacturing. Thecommitment and the assistance offered by the Alliance and the State of Indiana to our project through theplanning phase have allowed us to move from concept to reality in a relatively short period of time.

Ground Effects has multiple upfit locations in Canada, Michigan, Kentucky and Missouri; supplying customizedproducts and services for General Motors, Chrysler, and Ford vehicles.Representatives of GFX worked with the Alliance and the Indiana Economic Development Corporation to secureincentives and find a location to accommodate the companys needs. GFX will work with WorkOne Northeastto identify qualified employees. The Allen County Council will consider GFXs application for the phase-in ofnew property taxes on its $4.66 million investment at the July County Council meeting.

We have greatly anticipated the influence that General Motors would have on attracting other businesses to thecommunity, said Allen County Commissioner, Nelson Peters. Allen County is happy to welcome GroundEffects and looks forward to the job opportunities this will provide to the area.

Construction is expected to begin in mid-July and wrap up in early December.
