Lutheran Life Villages announces completion of renovations

FORT WAYNE, Ind. — Lutheran Life Villages, a leading, not-for-profit provider of senior living and care services in northeast Indiana, has announced completion of Phase Two of major renovations to The Village at Anthony Boulevard retirement community in southeast Fort Wayne.

To celebrate the event, Lutheran Life Villages will host an Open House on Thursday, Nov. 21 from 1-4 p.m. Refreshments will be served, and the event is open to the public.

“It has been a very busy and exciting 2019,” said Alex Kiefer, president and CEO of Lutheran Life Villages. “Anthony Boulevard has been part of the southeast Fort Wayne community since 1962. Our Project Connect and Renew investment reflects not only our dedication to our seniors, families, and staff, but also our continuing commitment to our surrounding neighborhoods as both a resource and an employer.”

The first phase of the multi-year, $2.3 million capital improvements project, named Project Connect & Renew, was completed in October 2018. It included re-configuring the Memory Care and Rehabilitation neighborhoods, mechanical systems modernization, and renovation of the Memorial Chapel.

Enhancing both interiors and exteriors of the Residential Living neighborhood, the new $640,000 Phase Two project reflects modern, welcoming spaces for residents and guests to enjoy. It includes:

  • A new drive-up front entrance with vestibule and canopy
  • Upgraded front lobby, including new furniture
  • Renovation of the Village Inn restaurant
  • A new Fitness Center
  • New office space

The renovations will also serve as the new entrance for the Rock Steady Boxing program. Now in its fifth year, this innovative regimen – open to all Fort Wayne residents – helps those with Parkinson’s disease improve their balance and strength.

Project Connect and Renew is the latest in a capital improvements initiative that includes a multi-million dollar investment in The Village at Pine Valley – an 84-bed, licensed skilled nursing and rehabilitation center opened in 2012 – and the $1 million 2015 renovation of The Village at Kendallville.
