FORT WAYNE, Ind. — Just over a year after moving into Allen County, Multimatic is already growing. The global automotive engineering and manufacturing company today announced plans to create up to 75 jobs by the end of 2021 and invest more than $22 million in an expansion that will nearly double the size of its local facility in New Haven.
Multimatic’s plant, located at 2808 Adams Center Road, is on track to grow by an additional 111,000 square feet in 2019. The expansion allows for additional final assembly operations, as demand for the company’s products continues to grow. Multimatic expects the expanded space to be fully operational by the end of 2020.
Headquartered near Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Multimatic engineers and manufactures complex mechanisms, body hardware, suspension system components, body structures, and lightweight composite automotive systems. Multimatic also delivers niche vehicle design, development, and production for road and race car applications. In addition to General Motors, Ford, and Fiat Chrysler, Multimatic counts virtually all major auto manufacturers as customers. The company’s Allen County plant is its second in Indiana, joining one in Butler.

The IEDC offered Multimatic up to $600,000 in conditional tax credits based on the company’s job creation plans. These incentives are performance-based, meaning that until Hoosiers are hired, the company is not eligible to claim incentives. Northeast Indiana Works will provide the company with additional hiring and training assistance. New Haven City Council will also consider tax phase-ins for Multimatic’s eligible real and personal (equipment) property investments.
