Nominations open for 2020 Champions of Change Awards

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – To honor Allen County’s extraordinary leaders and mentors, the Greater Fort Wayne (GFW) Inc. Women’s Network will present the second annual Champions of Change Awards on April 23. Now through Feb. 28, community members are encouraged to submit nominations for the awards, which specifically celebrate those who mentor and empower women in Allen County.

“The beautiful thing about mentoring is, it doesn’t require a special skillset, the right education, or that you’ve read the right books. You just have to care,” said Brenda Gerber Vincent, VP of community and corporate impact at GFW Inc.

The awards are given annually to two individuals from Allen County–one female and one male–who:

  • Demonstrate an unwavering passion and commitment to our community.
  • Are role models making a difference in the lives of others.
  • Have made significant contributions that have inspired women to succeed.
  • Have made Allen County a better place to live, work, and play.

Nominees need not be GFW Inc. investors, but investors are preferred. The nomination deadline is Feb. 28, and nominations can be submitted at gfwinc.communityforce.com.

The 2020 Champions of Change Award winners will be announced at a luncheon on April 23 at the Grand Wayne Center. Registration information for the luncheon is available on the GFW Inc. website.

Last year, Wendy Moyle and John Dortch were selected from a field of more than 20 nominees to win the inaugural Champions of Change Awards.

“The GFW Inc. Women’s Network exists to connect, inspire, and empower women,” said Barry Schrock, director of leadership programs at GFW Inc. “Great mentors play an important role in accomplishing these goals, so it’s fitting that we celebrate their efforts and their incredible impact in the community. We all need mentors in our lives to see things in us that we do not see in ourselves.”
